You'll be flying in no time!\n\n== Running FlyInside ==\n\nFirst, make sure that your virtual reality headset is connected to your computer and working. Be sure that your monitor and headset are connected to the same graphics card, that SLI is disabled, and that your computer is setup as described in [[Hardware Setup]]\n\nTo run FlyInside just start \"FlyInside FSX\" or \"FlyInside P3D\" from your Start Menu. FlyInside may ask you to pick some basic settings and make some changes. Just follow the instructions one by one. You may need to restart FlyInside after these changes are made.\n\nEventually your flight simulator should open your monitor, while FlyInside will appear inside your headset.\n\nIf you have trouble running FlyInside read [[Common Issues]] and [[Getting Help]]\n\n== Getting Started ==\n\n=== Recentering Head Position ===\n\nThe first thing you'll see when running FlyInside is a prompt to reset head position. Look straight ahead and press any button on your joystick to reset your view position.\n\n==== Recentering Without a Joystick ====\n\nIf you do not own a joystick you can reset your head position using your keyboard.\n\nTo do so, take off your headset and make sure that your simulator is opened to an airplane cockpit. If your simulator is on the opening screen with flight selection options, then enter a flight. Next, click on your simulator window to make sure it is focused. Finally, put on your headset, look straight ahead, and press a key on your keyboard.\n\nA joystick, HOTAS, or yoke is highly recommended for flight simulation. Having one of these controllers increases immersion and makes flight control easier. If you are just getting started, the [https://www.amazon.com/Extreme-3D-Pro-Joystick-Windows/dp/B00009OY9U/ Logitech Extreme 3D Pro Joystick] is a good entry-level joystick.\n\n=== The Interaction Button ===\n\nOnce FlyInside is running you'll need to choose an interact button. The interact button allows you to navigate menus, move windows, and in future updates will allow you to manipulate aircraft systems.\n\nYou should see a dialog prompting you to choose an action button. Press a button on your joystick which is convenient and easy to reach. If the right button has been selected, look at \"Use this Button\" (a blue dot will appear over it) and press your interact button again to continue.\n\nIf you forget what your interaction button is you can clear it by running \"Reset FlyInside FSX Settings\" or \"Reset FlyInside P3D Settings\" from your Start Menu.\n\n==== Interaction Without a Joystick ====\n\nIf you do not own a joystick you can choose an interaction button from your keyboard.\n\nTo do so, take off your headset and make sure that your simulator is opened to an airplane cockpit. If your simulator is on the opening screen with flight selection options then enter a flight. Next, click on your simulator window to make sure it is focused. Finally, put on your headset and choose an interaction button by pressing it on your keyboard.\n\n=== Trial and Activation ===\n\nBy default, FlyInside runs in trial mode. In trial mode, flights are limited to 15 minutes of VR flight-time. After 15 minutes you may continue your flight on-monitor, or restart your simulator. There is no limit on the number of 15-minute flights you can take.\n\nOn the trial window you can choose \"Try Now!\" to continue in trial mode or \"Activate\" to enable your purchased version of FlyInside. Look at the button you would like to click so that the blue dot appears over it, and press your interaction button.\n\n== Basic Use ==\n\n=== In the Cockpit ===\n\nOnce you've setup FlyInside, chosen an interaction button, and started your free trial (or activated FlyInside), FlyInside should take you into your aircraft's cockpit! The cockpit should have depth as if it were a real object around you, and you should be able to turn and move your head naturally.\n\nIf you are still on a FlyInside menu view, it is because your simulator has not loaded to a virtual cockpit. You can remove your HMD to see whether your simulator requires user interaction in-order to load.\n\n==== Moving the Camera ====\n\nYou may find yourself a little too far back, a little low or a little too close to the cockpit panel. You can adjust your camera position using the following keyboard shortcuts:\n\n{| class=\"wikitable\"\n|-\n! Camera Movement\n! Key\n|-\n| Up\n| Shift+Enter\n|-\n| Down\n| Shift+Backspace\n|-\n| Left\n| Ctrl+Shift+Backspace\n|-\n| Right\n| Ctrl+Shift+Enter\n|-\n| Forwards\n| Ctrl+Backspace\n|-\n| Backwards\n| Ctrl+Enter\n|-\n| Reset\n| Ctrl+Space\n|}\n\nIt is also possible to edit the default position of your view for each aircraft. For more information, see [[Adjusting Views and Seat Position]]\n\n==== The FlyInside Tag ====\n\nThe FlyInside Tag allows you to switch to the FlyInside Menu View. To make the Tag appear simply press your Interaction Button. If you don't press it again, the Tag will fade away after several seconds.\n\nYou can move the tag by looking at the movement controls on the left-hand side (with the blue dot), holding down your interaction button, and looking around.\n\nYou can adjust the volume by looking at the volume slider at the top of the tag and pressing interact.\n\nFinally, you can enter FlyInside's Menu view by looking at the large square Menu button and pressing interact.\n\n=== In the Menus ===\n\nThe FlyInside Menu View allows you to adjust settings, create control bindings, and navigate simulator menus and dialogs. You can enter the FlyInside Menu at any time by using the FlyInside Tag as mentioned above. Menu View will also appear any time the simulator is loading or in a menu screen.\n\nThere are four tabs at the top of the right-hand menu-pane: Menu, Sim, Bindings, and Settings. You can switch between these tabs by looking at them and pressing interact.\n\n==== Going Back to Flying ====\nTo re-enter your aircraft, look at the large \"Enter Simulator!\" button on the left and press interact.\n\nIf the button says \"Waiting for Simulator\" make sure that your simulator is running and set to virtual cockpit. You'll need to close any open dialogs such as the Select Aircraft window.\n\n==== Menus and Dialogs ====\n\nTo access your flight simulator's main menu within VR, look at the \"Menu\" tab and press interact. You'll see a full listing of your simulator's menu options. You can look at the various menu items and press interact to activate them.\n\nWhen your simulator opens a dialog (for example Select Aircraft or Go to Airport), FlyInside will display this window in the \"Sim\" tab. You can use the same interaction system to click on and navigate the dialog. To view your entire desktop rather than just the simulator window, press the \"Show Full Desktop\" button. \"Large Desktop View\" gives you a larger view of the entire desktop, making it possible to read small text.\n\n==== Settings and Bindings ====\n\nFlyInside has an extensive number of customizable settings and bindings, allowing you to tailor FlyInside to your needs. Under the Bindings panel you can bind joystick buttons, axis, and keyboard keys to a variety of commands. Under the Settings panel you can configure graphics settings, audio, virtual windows, and the look & feel of your simulator.\n\nFrom more information on the individual settings, see [[FlyInside Settings and Bindings]].\n\n== Next Steps ==\n\nOnce you have FlyInside up and running you may be interested in changing [[Graphics Settings and Performance]], customizing your [[FlyInside Settings and Bindings]], or reading the [[Feature Guides]]"
